Have The Right Attitude - Dog Whispering

    Dog Psychology - Dog Whispering
If you are a new pet owner the task of obedience training can seem daunting. For some, it may simply be in the best interest of you and your dog to hire a professional dog whisperer or trainer. Even for experienced dog owners, depending on the breed and dogs individual temperament it still may be best left to a professional. If you decide to do the obedience training yourself the first thing to know is that this should not be uncomfortable for either you or your dog.

Attitude is everything. If you have a sound training strategy and the right frame of mind, every dog training session can be a fun experience. The more fun and success you have will result in a motivated dog that is eager to please.

Dog obedience training should begin when the dog is still a puppy. If you are not prepared and have the right attitude it could lead to being too harsh with your dog. You don't want to break the dog's spirit.

It is important to remember that a young puppy is just a young child in the sense that they are going to make mistakes during obedience training. Be patient with your dog. If you treat him with affection and respect he will be easier to train than a dog that is insecure and fearful. Creating an environment and opportunity for success is important. Praise your dog and give him treats or his favorite toy. Find out what your dog really likes and work that in as a reward.

Avoid long dog training sessions that bore your dog. You should stop training before he loses interest and motivation. You want him to be excited about the next dog obedience training session.

If you can keep an upbeat, enthusiastic attitude during dog obedience training, your dog will also be excited and will try to please you even more. This will lead to a strong bond and a long term companion. Keep a good attitude and so will your dog.
