Dachshunds have a wide color variety. They are as follows:
Solid colors include, black, red, chocolate (or brown), isabella (which is tan), creme (which is blond or golden with no trace of red) and blue (or gray).
In the wirehaired variety, creme is referred to as wheaton.
Multi-color dachshund breeds could be black and tan, black and creme, chocolate and tan, chocolate and creme, blue and tan, or blue and creme.
Dachshunds love to travel and are easy to prepare for car trips and short vacations. This wonderful little dog needs an owner who knows how to be the pack leader, otherwise the dog will take over the house.
Don't allow the dachshund puppy to take over the house or many behavior problems will arise, such as, guarding furniture, food, toys or other objects, snapping, possibly biting, separation anxiety, and obsessive barking. These little dogs like to bark and their barks are surprisingly loud for their size. This breed needs to be taught barking obsessively is an inappropriate behavior.
Dachshunds also have an instinct to dig. They are generally okay with other pets; however once again, without proper leadership from their humans, they can be jealous, irritable and obstinate.
Dachshunds who have human leadership along with a daily pack walk are wonderful family companions, with excellent temperaments.
