Dog obedience training using the
crate training method is an effective tool with a boxer puppy and is one of the best way to
potty train your puppy. Crate training utilizes a safe environment and allows you to watch your puppy when you are unable to be constantly attentive. It is also a secure and comfortable place for your puppy to sleep. This helps teach them to control their bladder. Dogs are instinctively unwilling to go potty where they sleep. Although young puppy's don't have strong enough stomach muscles to always control their bladder so accidents will happen. As your puppy develops muscle and gets a little older he will become acclimated with his crate environment he will be able to hold his bladder longer.
Begin crate training as soon as you bring home your new boxer puppy. Choose a crate that is large enough for your puppy to sleep and eat with a little space between those areas. The crate should be kept in a central location and near the area of activity so your boxer puppy becomes familiar with the normal sounds, sights and smells of his new home. Keep his favorite toys in the crate and provide him a blanket to sleep on.
Be consistent about the times of day you keep your boxer in his crate. Try not to let your boxer eat or drink for at least 2 hours before bedtime. This will help him avoid accidents during the night. Take him outside to go potty right before you put him in the crate.
